TMJ Treatment
TMJ Treatment
The temporomandibular joints connect your jaw to your skull, and when they aren't working smoothly, you may notice jaw pain, clicking or popping, headaches, or discomfort while chewing. TMJ disorders can develop from clenching, grinding, stress, or misalignment, and they're often manageable once the underlying cause is identified.
What We Look For
- Jaw pain or tenderness — discomfort in the jaw joint, face, or surrounding muscles.
- Clicking or popping — noises when opening or closing the mouth.
- Limited movement — difficulty opening wide or a jaw that feels like it locks.
- Teeth grinding or clenching — often linked to TMJ symptoms and worn teeth.
How We Evaluate
A thorough exam starts with a look at how your teeth, jaw, and bite work together. Digital X-rays give us a clear view of the jaw structure, and Cone Beam CT (3D) Imaging can provide additional detail when a closer look at the joint is needed for planning.
Treatment Options
Depending on what we find, treatment may include a custom night guard to reduce clenching and grinding, adjustments to your bite, or guidance on habits that contribute to jaw strain. We'll walk you through what's happening and what options make sense for your situation before moving forward with any treatment.
